Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes Day is celebrated on November 5th in the United Kingdom. It's a British tradition dating back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605, when Catholic conspirator Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London. People celebrate the defeat of Guy Fawkes and the other conspirators with fireworks and bonfires.
There is a famous rhyme that goes:
Remember, remember, the fifth of November.
The Gunpowder, treason and plot,
I know of no reason
Why the gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot
